A dad wants to catch you before you fall
He wants to see that accomplishment with a grin,
He will pick you up and then will brush you off
Then he will let you do it all over again.
A dad wants to keep you from making mistakes
But, from you he will never desert,
He'll always let you try your answers first
And he's there when you get saddened and hurt.
A dad will hold you and comfort you when you cry
Will scold you when you break the rules or yell,
He's proud of you and shines whenever you succeed
He has faith in you, even if you fail.
A dad is always there for all your problems
Though many times you believe that he is not,
He'll always let you do your rationalizing and deciding first
But, usually he has the answer that you had sought
A dad is a gift from both your mother and God
He's there whenever you're happy, confused, angry or sad,
He has walked in the shoes that you are wearing now
There is no greater gift, than a loving dad.
