A Darkness Poem by Randy McClave

A Darkness

There is a darkness surrounding me
Through it I just can't see,
Who are my friends and who is my foe
Which way should I turn and go.
I cannot see clearly ahead
Is there a calmness, or is there dread,
Will I be stopped by a door or by a wall
Or instead, will I just trip and fall.
I hear voices that keep beaconing my name
Being a friend they all do claim,
But, I don't know who that they are
Because of this darkness, I can't see that far.
Many times I had kept my eyes tightly closed
When I should of kept them opened I supposed,
Ones I loved then done me very wrong
I then went spiritually blind for so very long.
Now I am not at all feeling that well
Seems like though I am stuck in a living hell,
If I could only see through the darkness
As I take advantage of this starkness.
My mind is now becoming so very cloudy
My thoughts are also becoming rowdy,
I really don't know where I should be
There is a darkness surrounding me.
