A Daydream Of A Day Poem by Kyrgiakos Punnilathil

A Daydream Of A Day

When the morning dew is fresh on leaves
I'll wake up and smell the air,
Climb the trees and pluck the fruits,
and eat them while still sitting there.

When mama calls I'll run away,
I do not want to do my chores,
The fields will call and I'lll play all day,
not stopping even to keep the scores.

When sun is warm and it burns my back,
I'lll jump into the rippling stream.
Splash my brothers and learn to swim,
then lay back on the banks and day-dream.

When sun is set and the world grows dark,
I will find my own way back.
Catching fish and throwing stones,
and singing songs along the track.

But mama will wait at the door,
her face is stern, her voice sore
'Where were you, you little rascal!
Have I told you not? To get in by four! '
