A Fading Shadow Poem by Harun Al Nasif

A Fading Shadow

Rating: 5.0

One day, like a vanishing shadow,
I will trample the ochre carpet of twilight-evening
and merge in the body of the vast murky shadow named darkness,
which people call night.
I will never return with the rising sun
on this magical canvas of gleaming light and shadow...

I will never be a polymorphic shadow again
like an opaque wall moving in the path of light.
I will tear the infallible bond of furtive gravity
hidden behind the tenderness of the soil
and walk weightlessly in the thousands of stairs of the wind.

I will appear at Khizir's place step by step
without leaving my footprint on the wilderness of vast waters.
I will cross the periphery of the galaxy with light.

I will run and jump in the vibrant oscillations of the cosmic rhythm
with the smooth posture of lightning speed.
Exceeding the temporal limit of infinity,
I will touch the expanding frontier of space in an unknown wonder.
I, the earnest particle of eternal light,
will merge in the intimate unison with Infinity...
