A Father's Day Special Poem by Daya Nandan

A Father's Day Special

That bond we have that surpasses both flesh and bone,
Far more valued than the best Roman throne,
That love you give me is that roman gods and kings fight for,
That father son bond that is greater than mother earth's core,

This connection we have is a special bond we share,
As strong as metal but invisible as air,
There is nothing in existence to compare it's worth,
Be it the heavens above or the mountains on earth,

You raised me with care, you taught me how to fight,
You taught me how to trust, to stand for what is right,
My flesh is the same as yours, your blood flows through my veins,
You taught me that its not just about muscle, its also about brains,

You taught me to reach out from doubt's shadows and unleash my hidden potential,
You made me understand that my strength is immeasurable and my confidence is essential,
You taught me that self believe is what keeps the strength on our shoulders,
You have shown me the power hidden in me enough to move boulders,

Those lessons you imparted in me, those lessons in life
Your wise words will be my weapon, my special knife
I have become who i am based on the examples you set
The way you would work till 2am despite being drenched in sweat

The way you would take me to a field cause otherwise i wouldnt eat
the way you tolerated me making you chase me with your feet,
You never thought that taking care of me was a bother,
You raised me with love, you define the word 'father',

You told me the most beautiful rainbows are only revealed after the heaviest of rains,
And desire should never die as long as blood flows in all my veins,
And most important, you opened my eyes to see to see
How to appreciate life, how beautiful simple things in life can be

Father, you are the strength that keeps me going when all is lost,
The one man that will keep me breathing no matter the cost,
To me, in my times of despair you have always been my salvation,
Keeping me strong hearted and evoking the fire of my determination,

Even in lightning storms against every giant dark cloud,
I'll stand my ground like you raised me, dad i'll make you proud,
You have shown me the patients and skill that fatherhood demands,
You have transformed me into a man by the power in your hands,

I will never lose sight of all of you my father that i greatly treasure,
For there are some things in life that value beyond measure
I'll stand by you father no matter how bad the situation and walk you through life's rain,
In a thousand years the dust from my bones will be gone but my love for you will remain,

Until the day the sky falls, until the day my bones become dust,
You will remain my father that i know and trust,
If your world goes upside down and and your world goes blue,
Know that your son will be always there for you,
