A Fight Is Not Judged On The Day Of The Fight Poem by Tony Cemaluk Egbuonu

A Fight Is Not Judged On The Day Of The Fight

The vicissitudes of life
trained one to Spartan status.
Never wanted my people
burdened with extra budgetary weight.
But the last straw
broke the camel's back.

Received.
Accepted.
With gargantuan gratitude
of a heavily burdened Spartan.

Ehi ogu abughi ehi ikpe. Nwanne —
A fight is not judged
on the same day of the fight. Dear ones.

I thank you all.
