A Friend In Need Poem by June FeirCruz

A Friend In Need

Rating: 5.0

I do not know how many times I have heard it before:
'A friend in need, is a friend indeed'.
In these difficult economic times
I see a lot of people struggle to make ends meet.

A friend of mine brought a friend of his to a homeless shelter
When he lives in a mansion alone in his bachelor splendor
I have another friend with four mouthes to feed
Seriously contemplating sheltering her friend with two more mouthes to feed.

Another friend of mine took in a battered lady friend
She stayed with him for many a days
He never touched her and to this day they are friends
Because he is a gentleman and shelter a friend in need.

I could go on for a few lines more
Telling you of the frailty and strength of our human deeds.
What I learn from all this?
You know who your true friends are, when you are destitute or near destitution
They lift you up or forget about you into oblivion.

Dear 'MISS' June, Thank you also for reading my poems and for leaving wonderful remarks. By the way, that was to much to bear, I'm not that intellectual as you think. I just got crazy one day and started writing...ha ha ha! Well, I don't feel obligated to leave a wonderful comment here, but I love to say what I feel about this poem: 'You know who your true friends are when you are destitute or near destitution They lift you up or forget about you into oblivion.' Very true. Who need friends when they almost have everything? They love people around them to appreciate the things they have that others don't have. If their so-called friend turned their back against these kind of friends, they will simply say 'so what? I can live without you.' It's a sad fact. But take all their treasured things, especially money...they will then needing a friend. That's when a true friend comes to the rescue. I can sense a natural kindness in you cause you can see those things. That means you care. I love this sensible poem, honestly. thanks for sharing.: -) From the hooker of smileys
