A Friend Suffering Poem by Ray Hansell

A Friend Suffering

For many years she had mourned
For her only, child born

Her child lived only hours
Now buried beneath beautiful flowers

She keeps them fresh everyday
Always throwing the old one's away

Her pain has never gone away
It grips her both night and day

Nothing else occupies her mind
She lives tormented all the time

She has tried to pray the pain away
But in her mind it always stays

Hoping one day to escape
It's her life she'd like to reshape

But she suffers so very much
She's even numb to the human touch

It's love she craves, but can't reject
The pain inside she's always kept

She knows she needs to let go
Of this tragedy from long ago
