A Gaze Into The Heavens
I gazed up at the stars, late one night
Looking across the outer depths of space
Trying intently to fathom all I saw
Hoping to catch a glimpse of my creator’s face
I saw a sign that I had previously missed
The evidence of things not seen
The substance of all that I’d hoped for
A sign that brought to my knees
Written before creation in the stars above
And delivered to the Earth 2,000 years ago
Every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess
To the Lord that made the Heavens glow
Across the reaches of space and time
All things remain the same
Man remains now as he has always been
Trying to answer his own questions, but all in vain
The one who gave us our very lives
Who breathed life into this vast universe
Will grant us salvation as his gift
To all who follow him and converse
I closed my eyes and turned away
Contemplating what I saw
I thought of everything that God has done
And then stood transfixed in total awe
