A Gift Poem by soren Barrett

A Gift

Slow down and wait for me
Don't frown though your burden's heavy
I have one more beam for you to carry
So shoulder the thing and don't tarry
In lightening my load by giving it to you
Carrying it will lighten yours too
Its weight, inverse to its size
How great I didn't realize
The more you give it away
The more certainly, it'll stay
Though not money, it's its own pay
It's a smile that will carry you on your way
