A Gift For My Grandchild Poem by Namita Rani Panda

A Gift For My Grandchild

I wish to gift my granddaughter
A peaceful world full of limitless cheer
with no space for violence and war,
No bloodshed and gore,
No dispute and fear,
No classes of rich and poor,
No powerless and the exploiter.

I wish to gift my granddaughter
A lush green globe where birds happily twitter
Men with animals compassionately share and care
Air is pure and no pollutants to poison the rivers
Where hunger is a stranger
And no one shiver and die without shelter.

I would love to share with you the fact
That I have adopted a very simple act
To accomplish my long-cherished wish
To gift my little angel a real paradise

I have Just sown a small seed of love
In a corner of my core
And nurturing it with utmost care
I'm quite sure
Soon it'll grow into a tree, pleasant and fair
Spread its branches splendidly in the air
Laden with colourful fragrant flowers
Reverberate the world with the fragrance of love,
It'll bear the fruits of brotherhood and understanding
That'll fill everyone's heart with joys unending
Wipe out all negative feelings
Put an end to all violence and disharmony
Transform this planet into a beautiful haven
For all our brethren and loving children

So, what are you waiting for friends?
Gift something very special to your grandchildren
A secure world to freely flower and flourish
Isn't it a worthwhile wish to be cherished?
Is it difficult and impossible to accomplish?
