A Girl On A Street Poem by Dean Meredith

A Girl On A Street

Rating: 5.0

Lovely thing
I saw you both times
And you saw me

I saw a part of you
And you saw a part of me
The others said move on

They said she's gone
I kind of knew
What they meant

She smiled
Looked right through us
A kind of ignorant bliss

Is that what you really think?
My muse of today asked
I gently said no

It was all very sad
Somewhat terrifying
Another human soul on the heap

She was the kind of girl
Who might talk to animals?
And understand their replies

She was once beautiful
Still was
In her fucked up way

It was tragic
Slightly melancholic
In our solitary confinement

In our state of nature
In our poor excuse for grace
She smiled & we walked away
