A Good Man Poem by Juan Olivarez

A Good Man

What is a good man, do you qualify,
As others before you?
Is your place in heaven, reserved on high,
What kind of heart, beats within you?

Do you worship God and mamon too,
You know that just isn't cool?
Tell me, for others, what do you do,
Does your mirror see a fool?

To follow God, you see, I've read,
That you must leave all else behind.
But when people hear this, they feel a dread,
They really start to lose their minds.

How many big preachers, that you know,
Could walk through the pearly gates?
Yet they'll put on the biggest show,
For the all mighty dollar, and no rebates.

If the world was ending, tell me true,
Why would you need money then?
Yet crooked holy men tell you what to do,
Send in your hard earned cash my friend.

Twas God himself, told you long ago,
About the wolfs dressed up as sheep.
So make sure the light is green then go,
That smooth talking minister, is just a creep.
