A Heartless Love Poem by David Francis Carter

A Heartless Love

Rating: 5.0

I've always loved you with all my heart
But now my heart's knackered and worn
So I'll love you with other organs instead
That I've had since I were born
I love you with all my kidneys
Isn't much of a valentines theme
So you can have my liver instead or even take my spleen

My eyes have seen your beauty
Take them and cherish them dear
And appreciate their worth
‘Cause it's better than getting an ear

I've miles and miles of veins for you
Through which my blood runs red
And if push comes to shove
To show you my love
You can have the brain in my head

My reproductive organs
Have always been yours to keep
But once they've shown their love for you
They'll turn over and fall asleep

My skin will envelope you in my love
My lungs will breathe out your name
But right from the start
Love without a heart
Would never be quite the same

I love you

An unusual take on a love poem. I think it's a belter.
