A Helpless Little Child Poem by zaheer uddin

A Helpless Little Child

A HELPLESS LITTLE CHILD

I am but a child
a helpless little child
with dreams of dolls and rabbits
and colored flowers and butterflies

I have another self
a sensitive assertive self
which makes me speak my little mind
with the courage of my convictions

You with your size and strength
may silence me with those brawny arms
hurting my little frame
pounding me with your iron fists
until i submit to your size

I but a child
a proud little child
hold back my tears
while my soul bleeds inside
wondering why do you use your size and strength
against my fragile self
why don't you reason out with me
on things that perplex my little mind
why do you wish to quieten me
with your giant size
why is might always right in your eyes
why don't you leave your caves
and learn to bow to your pride
before a helpless little child
