My Angel Poem by zaheer uddin

My Angel

Angels live in heaven
to heaven must they fly
the earthy life is not sublime
to hold their lofty souls-

An Angel on his earthy tour
chose to rest his wings
and mingled with our earthy souls
to share his light of love

We never really got to know
the angel from the sky
a hug, a tear, a word of cheer
would make him smile and soar

His crystal eyes
with the greatest ease
would cut a channel through our hearts

Bees and flowers.
and butterflies
and colored birds of paradise
would fill the pages of his books
his looks remained so pale- -

We hoped he'd stay forever
among our sinful souls
to purge us of the avarice
that clung on to our souls

He tried in vain to cure
the sickness of our souls
to give us strength and wings to soar
to make us clean and pure

Today his time was done
his wings were strong to fly
no tears could hold the little soul
from soaring in the sky
