"A Home With Old Or Old Age Home" Poem by Shalini Punjabi

"A Home With Old Or Old Age Home"

Rating: 5.0

The voices of the old often go unheard
In the cacophony of the material world
Where the young choose pace over peace
To live a life of hunger and greed
Achievements, Accolades, Bouquets and Rewards
Are these not obsessions keeping from one and all?
The innocent smiles of the old and fragile
Wait for those who don't meet eye to eye
The voices of the old may seem arduous to ears
But those could be as simple as ‘sit next to me my dear'
Wipe my tears and reassure me that there was nothing to fear
So long as their children were near
If under the same roof, unheard goes the whining
Think about seven seas away
Where the world teaches you to bury emotions for those
Who taught you to laugh and sway;
And for whom a little love could have gone a long way
Has the time come to think about Mankind?
Because if man was kind and hearts too large and the ‘I' a little selfless
There would be no old age homes for the helpless!

for whom a little love could have gone a long way Has the time come to think about Mankind? Because if man was kind and hearts too large and the ‘I' a little selfless There would be no old age homes for the helpless! Old age, helplessness and desire to have someone at the last moment of life. tony
