A Honey-Do You Haven't Done Poem by Donal Mahoney

A Honey-Do You Haven't Done

You have to be married
at least 30 years to know
what your wife is thinking
before she says it aloud.

More than 40 years to know
what she's thinking before
she starts thinking about a
honey-do you haven't done.

And married more than 50 years
to know what she's thinking before
she starts thinking about a new
honey-do she has yet to mention.

That's why it's best for a man
to keep quiet until he knows
it's a zephyr and not a hurricane
blowing his way.
