A Hound Dog Case Of The Flu Poem by Donal Mahoney

A Hound Dog Case Of The Flu

My wife's amazed
when I station myself
at the computer

writing this or that
despite a hound dog
case of the flu.

So I tell her something
she's probably known
about me for years.

I write for the same reason
a mutt barks endlessly
in the city pound-

It's something worth doing
for as long as possible
until we're swept away.
