A Journey Of The Heart, Mind And Soul Poem by Brian Bailey

A Journey Of The Heart, Mind And Soul

On September 11/01, the world became a different place in which to live. This statement, of course, refers not so much to the geography of the land, but rather to the manner in which we think and feel. We worry more often now. It seems that almost any negative action can indeed occur, and on our own turf as well.

The events of September 11 have caused many people to ponder many questions. For example, 'Why is there so much violence in the world today? How can we encourage and inspire more positive thoughts and actions? ' For if such a noble endeavour could be achieved, perhaps we might feel a little more control over the destiny of our world, thus lessening our vulnerability. And this in turn just might reduce our fear, tension and anxiety about life and the unknow, in general.

I try to engage in as many positive thoughts and actions as possible. I meet so many very special people throughout the course of my daily activities that it is absolutely heartwarming. I become inspired to write to each and every one of these incredible individuals and let them know exactly how they touched my life. It might be a server at a restaurant who performed in an exemplary fashion, gifted with a wonderful smile and a terrific personality, who just made my day something very special indeed.

So often we think to ourselves, 'What can I possibly do to make the world a better place in which to live? I don't have very much money to give'. The fact of the matter is that there are all kinds of different ways to give to others. Sometimes the simplest, best and most effective way to give to others is just by acknowleding them with a kind word or deed. So often, we all just seem to pass people by, not even noticing the wonder and beauty of their very being, and the amazing effort and expertise put forth for our benefit.

I think now is the time to start to appreciate our fellow human beings. This can be achieved in a variety of unique and wonderful ways. It is a 'win-win' situation for both parties involved. So say that kind word, send that precious note to that person in need of it. You will be richer for it in ways you can't even dream or imagine! !

Yours in Kindness & Friendship.
