A King's Night Poem by angel lockheart

A King's Night

Rating: 2.1

The gravel crunches under my feet
As the garish sun starts to retreat
He draws up his black cape to slip into sleep
And sail off into dreams that are oh, so deep

In his place his sister appears
Showing me I have nothing to fear
With her light as my path I can’t go wrong
As her children dance to a complex love song

An orchestra of crickets chime in with the melody
And the owls follow in perfect harmony
The cars are the drums and the frogs are the base
The only sign that I’m not alone in this space

The magical night air gives me a natural high
And it feels as if I’ve grown wings and can fly
Away from this town, the people, this life
Away from the pain, the drama, the strife

A tree blocks my path and I start to climb
And as I do, the pressure unwinds
I don’t stop till the place where the branches meet the sky
And then my wings catch the air and I whisper goodbye

Goodbye to everyone who thought I wasn’t good enough
Goodbye to everyone who broke my trust
And if anyone wonders where I will be
It’s where happiness meets with dreams so sw33t
