A Lament Of A Night (From, Shorter Poems…) Poem by Peter S. Quinn

A Lament Of A Night (From, Shorter Poems…)

If I could say this to you,
I love you always still;
You are like a rose and a lily,
And I'll do whatever you will.

Your beauty lies beyond comparison,
And so does all your grace;
I know of no other like you,
Those eyes in your pale face.

If I could say this to you,
And you where still here;
I would surrender my heart truly,
To you and only you my dear.

But now I stand before you,
On your grave with tears;
And can only remember now,
All those passed on years.
