A Last Wish Poem by Somanathan Iyer

A Last Wish

A leaf dry and pale
counting its time
to wilt and fall
made a wish
to get cremated
the moment
It withered
came a strong wind
lifted the leaf to heights
seen never before
tossing it in the sky
wind carried the leaf
and dropped it
In forest fire
to get cremated
