A Leopard In A Tree Poem by Denis Martindale

A Leopard In A Tree

My camera got a close-up view, and so I clicked away,
The leopard didn't have a clue and thus was prone to stay.
Legs dangling as it stretched flat out, with nothing much more done,
As if no cause to run about, while basking in the sun.
Wildcats have raised lips when they smile, that's how it seems to me,
And yet this leopard showed its style while stretching peacefully,
It made me think the land was safe, upon the ground below,
And yet I know I'm not that brave to let all caution go.

I checked the pictures there and then, and my word, they looked great,
For fine art paintings shared again, enough to celebrate.
Once I had found what I came for, it was now time to cease,
I strolled back to the Jeep once more and left the cat in peace.
And then I thanked God I could share each year He would allow,
A hundred paintings here and here, eight hundred up to now.
To think this world with all its strife, has creatures far and wide,
I'm thankful that God gave me life with all my needs supplied.

It's good to know that God can bless the paintings that we do,
When artists share the happiness God sets forth in plain view,
Investing in life's majesty, peacocks and butterflies,
God's legacy and pageantry, before our very eyes.
What can compare with beauty's best, the dolphins leaping high,
The stallions that look so blessed, the eagles flying by?
The elephants that stand so tall, the dogs, called Man's best friend,
To me, each is a miracle that only God could send!

Here is a wildlife poem by the Poemhunter poet Denis Martindale.

Even after finding over 800 paintings by the UK wildlife artist Stephen Gayford, Denis Martindale discovered another one titled 'A Leopard In A Tree'. That is now the title of his new poem. The leopard has found his spot. He is at peace with the world. The poem is about Stephen Gayford taking photos of the leopard so he can paint a brand new painting of this tranquil scene. The poem reflects on the wonders of Nature, the diversity of Creation itself, and the gifts that each artist has to share.

The planet Earth is alive with miracles. No wonder that the poets love to share such wonders, too. Yes, there are so many blessings and more than enough to keep the Poemhunter poets busy for a while.
