A Letter From Heaven Poem by Pearl L Johns

A Letter From Heaven

Dear Mike,
I am sending you this letter today,
On the wings of a snow white dove.
I know that you have heard of my passing from this earth.
I have heard and felt your tears.

Please dear Mike,
Cry for me no more.
At least cry no tears of pain.
If you must cry,
Cry tears of joy.
For I am free.

There is no more pain.
No more wheelchair.
No more frustration
When I have a voice in my head
That my mouth cannot seem to put into words.

I did not hurt when I left your world.
Or if I did, I was not aware of it.
For I was not alone when I left.
Jesus held my hand as I closed my eyes for the last time.

When I took my last breath on Earth,
Jesus lifted me up to Heaven.
Where I was met by mama and daddy,
And so many more wonderful beings
Greeting me with joy.

Mike, death was a liberator for me.
Ha, bet you didn't know I knew that word did you.
No, you of all people probably did know that I would know it,
I just couldn't express it.

Now I can express myself with any words.
I can read all the books I want too.
I can dance Mike.
Without needing my wheelchair anymore.
And I do so love to dance.

I have feasted at a meal beside Jesus.
And we laughed and laughed,
Until our sides ached.

I have sang with a choir of angels.
And though I will never sing as beautifully as they,
I have to say,
I didn't sound half bad.

It is so beautiful here Mike.
There is no pain.
The only tears are tears of joy.
Except for the tears that fall
When someone passes from your world
Who doesn't accept the belief of the father
and the belief in heaven.
Then there are tears of sadness.

My heaven is not streets of gold.
I have no need of streets of gold.
Perhaps some do.
My heaven is full of flowers.
Beautiful flowers of
the most amazing colors
And smells.

Oh you would love my heaven Mike.
Someday you will be here to see it.
But not for a long, long time.
You still have much to do there.

But don't fear Mike.
I will always be there with you.
Look for me in the bloom
of the Sweet Magnolia.

Look for me in the billowing clouds in the sky.
I will draw you a picture in the clouds.
Look for me in the sunset.
I will paint you a most beautiful sunset.

Sometimes, just for the fun of it.
Just to make you laugh.
On the brightest, sunshine filled day.
I will send a shower of rain upon your head.
You will know it is just for you from me.
And I expect you to laugh and dance in the rain.

You, my dearest Mike,
Have been my best friend,
Have been a sister to me,
And after mama died.
You were a mama to me.

I have always loved you.
And I love you still.
You haven't lost me Mike.
Just look in your heart.
You will find me there.

Look for the white feathers.
You will find them in the least expected places.
They will be a token of love from me.
Forever my friend, till I see you again.
Love, G.
