A Letter To My Daughter Poem by Raimi Babatunde

A Letter To My Daughter

Rating: 3.0

A letter to my daughter
Not only are you my world,
You are my everything.
When you fall in love,
I want to be the first to know.

When they says "Don't tell your parents"
Honey, run fast and get me on speed dial.
That's the devil I told you about,
Even if they came with a human face.

Nothing in life is ever free my Angel.
Especially when offered by outsiders.
Don't fall for them, you'll loose your sanity.
Whatever I don't give you, you don't neee Sweety.

Remember our late night chats.
I'll be there when you need me the most.
Don't worry when you grow "Agbalumos"
It is a sign of growth. Like Mummy, I'll gift you your first hanger.

Did I tell you about that monthly visitor?
It is not a disease, but a sign of strength.
It will come unannounced, but remember my admonition.
It is a phase and it will pass.

Sit not on anyone's leg, okay?
Take no sweet or money from anyone, it is a bait.
I'll be there to guide and guard you through.
No matter how difficult it is, I'll always be there to listen.

Please remember this letter always.
Let it be a pinky secret between us.
I love you with my everything
And will not traded you for all the gold in the world.
Until the time is right with the right man.
Let me be your best friend...

Ah, the father-daughter bond; as old as time. A good one!
