A Letter To The Editor Poem by Bryan Taplits

A Letter To The Editor

'I think your readers would want to know:
An issue has come up that one cannot forget
It snakes the road, in its wily ways,
And in it's forks-and in all of its other aspects.
The thing is-but first I must address-
The thing that baffles me most-
Where are our councilmen?
You'd think they'd see the flaw in this mode
And in its tableau by Council-and all other suspects.
It's so obvious and withal it tends
To mistakes that would never be made-
By the voted out others who would never attend
On this road which the current administration has paved.
One can't help but raise his voice in exasperation
Cry to the skies up above,
Where is that sunny sunrise that was previously promised,
Promised by this administration 'of love? '
As I've outlined and shown with humble insight
No longer are we citizens without voice
Our votes may now be mute; as silenced our tune
But thanks to this Editor we will always be able to write!
I trust that my letter is not to subtle
To swing an opinion or two,
Persuading every friend-and even my foes-
That this issue be never old news! '
