A Letter To You, God Poem by Angela Bontle Ditumiso

A Letter To You, God

I've been swallowed up by fear
I can't escape the bubble
I heard that you can take it away
In an instant
Is it true?

I'm a host
Within me there's pain pushing
Against my walls,
I think I'm about to burst
I heard that you're like rain
You wash all the bad away
In its place, goodness will bloom
I need you to take it away

I feel like a void, a world without form
I need you to give me life
Shed some light into my being
Maybe I'll stop seeing my existence
As a dead star

Give me sight
I want to see your beauty
I want to laugh again
And if I do cry,
I want it to be tears of joy
