A Lonely Road Poem by Sameer Agnihotri

A Lonely Road

Rating: 5.0

You are short, you are long, you are straight, and you are curved;
Sometimes leveled, sometimes debris is your form;
You take everyone, everywhere, no questions, and no answers.
I see a road, a road lonely; steps go forward and backward;
Stationary thou are, wonder people say which road goes..?
Alone is road, barren, soul devoid, wind, buzzing;
Why no men, no flock? Where it goes?
People panic, or pass it a village, inhibited; disease or pestilence;
Or ominous; or bringer of misfortune.
Silence is everywhere, gust momentarily breaks;
Straight it is, talking leaves, melody secret;
Mysterious are you, long-long you goes, never ends, track to hell or heaven.
Doubt I, no living soul; are you a carrier of frozen bodies?
Clean, new and shiny you are; soaked or repaired.
At night, new display you reveal;
Looks more horrifying than ever, enchanter thou are, magic black;
Visible nothing, nowhere; only gloomy, happiness is a flickering candle.
Be aware, ray of light, not a hope, a lethal trap it is; a one way journey;
Wonder what existed there, never dared, dared never showed-up;
May be there a beast waiting for its feast, or an evil spirit; or witch longing for sacrifice;
What happens there on these tracks, nobody knows. You conceal your riddles.
The world will never forget, existence long-lasting, lifeless you are;
You shall be known, not because mysterious you are but, but I made you immortal, decay, but my words made you so will survive.
