The party carried on.
In full swing;
And we flitted around
Like happy butterflies.
Someone's mobile phone suddenly lighted up,
On a sofa,
Quietly,
Discreetly.
Words meant to be whispered into someone's ears
Lost their way and strayed off the screen
Into someone else's eyes;
Like misdirected missiles.
A few minutes later,
A young wife picked up the mobile phone.
With a cool, expressionless face.
She read the message; unaware that the words were no longer fresh.
Somewhere, several miles away,
An exhausted, sleepless husband
Tossed and turned restlessly
On a lonely bed.
But the party carried on,
Anyway in full swing;
And we flitted around
Llike happy butterflies.
Such things are not far off to happen! What is more important is the ceremonies associated with the marriage and not the relationship that is to stretch a whole life time! A very imaginative picture of what will happen in modern times! Great write Jasbir!
With some of the most amazing expressions, the poem offers a serious commentary on the fragile or rather disjointed relationships in the modern age society. Thanks a lot, Jasbir ji, for sharing this piece.
