A Long Time Ago Poem by Randy McClave

A Long Time Ago

A long time ago
Unto me you had said, "no! ",
Just think, what if you had said, "Yes".
Now as I sit and ponder
As I relax and wonder,
That thought I still solemnly confess.
You'd be living with me
By the river or by the sea,
And always traveling to different lands.
You'd be wearing new clothes
And perfumes tempting the nose,
And exploring with me barren sands.
We'd be on a plane or on my boat
To our leisure we'd always devote,
As we'd sail the sky or up and down the river.
Then we'd go out to eat
Everyday would be a better treat,
As excitement I promise that I'd would deliver.
We'd either go near or far
Chasing a star,
Just seeing where it leads.
Whatever you might require or wanted
Your wish would be undaunted,
You would never have any needs.
But, then one day you just left
And I was left bereft,
When you walked out from my front door.
You never did tell me why
But, I found out, so I sat down and did cry,
I then saw and heard you no more..

I now know not of your life
If you're someone's girlfriend or maybe a wife,
Of if your wearing sweats, jeans or even a dress.
But, remember this, you had said, "no! "
A long time ago,
Sometimes, do you wish that you had said, "yes! ".
