A Lost Cause Poem by Tyra Falconwing

A Lost Cause

Rating: 4.5

They think they are in control
They think they know it all
They think they are better

They think they have the right shove you in the halls
They think they have the right to act as if you don't exist at all
They think they have the right to push you out of the picture

The fact is they don't
But no matter what we say
They find a way to shove back in our face

I'm sick of being ignored
Cause I'm a person too
And believe it or not I still have faith in you

I know you can change if you really try
I know I can help if I pry into your life
But the truth is whether I like it or not, it is a lost cause

Because you've lost all feeling
Because you've lost all hope
Because you've lost the reality that helped you cope

So here I am still supporting this lost cause
And for a moment I would like you to pause
To think about this life and how it truly is
Instead of being me who thinks about all that is missed

This is a beautiful poem. A poem of reassurance, a poem of faith. At the same time, terming it as a 'lost cause', the poet has devalued her own assessment, may be because: 'Cause you’ve lost all feeling Cause you’ve lost all hope Cause you’ve lost the reality that helped you cope'. Nice that the poem ends on an optimistic expectation: ' And for a moment I would like to you to pause To think about this life and how it truly is Instead of being me who thinks about all that is missed' Over all, a very nice poem. A poem that speaks.
