A Love Divine Poem by Gerhardus Keen

A Love Divine

How does one try to describe divine beauty
when it can only be envisaged by the soul
and it touches your heart with joyous pain
not sad and painful nor a sorrowful pain
because you saw something you cannot explain

I saw it in your eyes the moment we met
and I had a feeling that I knew you before
of two souls separated by time and space
destined to meet again and again for eternity
and in future we will meet again, it's a certainty

The moment I first held you in my arms and our first kiss
I will cherish forever and a day... even longer
for I knew I held you like this through many lifetimes
I did not want to let go of you for fear of losing you then
and fearing it would take a millennium to find you again

I know you felt it too but are too afraid to admit the truth
you were also caught off guard by all the coincidences
the alignment of the stars and the feeling of déjà vu
You started to push me away because it conflicted with your believes
but by not understanding this, it's only me that grieves

How I long to gaze into your eyes and see all the lives we've lived
and feel that everlasting love you deny yourself to feel
scared that I will leave you too, you put your shield up again
but our love runs deeper than the carnal and it's a love that shine
with a bright brilliant radiance.. for it's a gift of God... a Love Divine
