A Man Of The Fifties Poem by Francis Duggan

A Man Of The Fifties

He looks on those different as way out and strange
But at his stage of life he is not going to change
The whole World it is black and white in his eyes
He may be growing older but he is not growing wise
He likes criticizing the youth of today
So different to us in our youth he does say
With green, blue or red in their hair and rings on ears and nose
They do look so strange in their strange looking clothes,
A man of the fifties old ways he retain
He is what he always was and that way will remain
He fought in a war and tis said he was brave
But his mum and his dad control him from their grave
His conservative ways from them has been grown
But like it is said to each their own.
