A Man With A Spirit That Will Never Die Poem by James Darwin Smith II

A Man With A Spirit That Will Never Die

Rating: 2.5

Dare defy these odds
I live like no other
Normalcy is hypocrisy
Laden in the abyss
Of simplistic endeavors

Always flawed, Always an enigma
Once hated myself,
Now loving myself unconditionally

Do you see who I really am?
I could care less if you don't
I am my own man
Never will I be anything else

Never told anyone
About those who said I would never amount to much
Kept it to myself, once believed it
Now I am beyond all of their ridiculous illusions

I became smarter by teaching myself
Before I just did enough to get on by
Never paying attention
Surviving the best that I could

Many years of self-doubt
So many times felt dead inside
But I fought with everything I had
Now I am here proud of my past and how I survived

I was my own worst enemy
But that part of me has died
Things are still not easy
But that is what makes me stronger
Always digging deeply in the far reaches of my inside

Full of hope and dreams
Love is something that resides in my internal pride

I may not be young anymore
Yet, I have still not entered my prime
Who am I? What have I become?
A man with a spirit that will never die!

Impossibilities are possible
In these visions that reside endlessly in these blue sky eyes

I am a Man with a spirit that will never die
I am ready to go against limits, I am ready to defy!

Limits fly up high even beyond the sky!
I am a Man with a spirit that will never die!

In life I will do more than just get by!
I shall always be defiant! I shall always defy!
