A Mentor Poem by Vidur Mohta

A Mentor

When your day would start with ‘Grey',
Exploring the dark epiphany that life is,
You need a figure, a friend, a confidant,
Who motivates you to see the light in a cave.

Who brings about a shift in your perception,
A development in the grand scheme of things,
Suddenly you feel lighter than feather,
For he incites certitude and surety.

You know he is there to stand by you,
Like an anchor, Come storm or hale,
For he is a strong pillar of support,
A hearing ear in this cacophony of life.

Setting your train of thoughts in line,
Realization hitting after crossing the quagmire,
Of the pickle in which you had been,
And now, you see life anew.

And walk with a kick and a beat,
Turning your life into ‘Pink' and ‘white',
Appreciating every small facet with bright eyes,
Someone who turns your view of life.

And with each passing year,
Your wisdom grows in abundance,
You achieve all that you desire,
Becoming a perfect gentlemen.
