A Modern Day Saint Poem by Angela Wybrow

You brighten my mind; you brighten my heart,
Although we've never met and we live far apart;
You appear to possess the incredible power
To inhabit the thoughts of every waking hour.

The evidence I have seen appears to paint
You as a hero - a modern day saint;
You're caring and handsome, generous and kind,
And I just cannot get you out of my mind.

You're a cheerful chappie, who's so down to earth;
A guy who firmly believes that everybody has worth.
You're dashing and dapper, witty and wise:
In fact, you are the perfect gentleman in my eyes.

A magical spell, you seem to have cast,
And I have no idea how long it will last;
From your spell, there seems no escape.
You're just like Superman, but minus the cape.

I seem to have joined your adoring army,
But, deep down inside, I know it's all barmy;
Unable to resist, I'm being carried along
With the rest of your fans - a merry old throng.

That this would happen, I'd never have guessed,
But, with you at present, I am pretty obsessed;
By all of this, I am feeling quite mystified,
But the attraction you hold just can't be denied.

Into my life, your bright light now shines,
But I'm under no pretence that you'll ever be mine.
Out of my soul, sad thoughts have been sifted,
And now my soul is feeling uplifted.

Throughout the world, you are so highly-rated,
And, by your charms, folk are intoxicated.
You dash round the world going from place to place,
But I very much doubt that we'll meet face to face.

Without any warning, I've become a big fan,
But, this journey I'm on, I so had not planned.
For now, I am happy to go with the flow,
And enjoy, within me, this warm, happy glow.
