A Moment Poem by Steven B Taylor

A Moment
Opus 1

I am staring at this incredibly beautiful woman,
Focusing in and out,
Short range, long range.
Wondering,
What makes her so beautiful?
I see her,
Over and again in my mind,
Her sweetness, and clarity and,
joie de vivre.

She is laughing and tossing
Back her head.
The sun gleaming through her
Saffron hair.
It is an instant-
Framed in eternity.

I think to myself,
She is
The quintessential Eve,
The mother of the seasons,
The belle dame of society,
The strength and suppleness
Of youth.

'A thing of beauty is a joy forever',
The beauty fades-the joy lasts.

It is a moment....

Steven Taylor

Written after viewing a picture of my mother when my sister and I were very young.
