A Moment Shared Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

A Moment Shared

Rating: 5.0

I found her alone in the night
so delicate and slight
brokenhearted for what he did
shattered her beautiful dreams
and snuffed out her light

and here she was abandoned
and so far away
a beautiful spirit
that someone careless hurt
and tossed away

She is precious and rare
anyone with a heart can see
a treasure, just learning how to be free
but someone dark couldn't let her be
he lured her to love she dreamed she did see

She curses her fate
and remembers the exact date
that he broke her heart
after he made her believe and wait
and turned her love inside out, into hate

But when I noticed
Beauty, only did I see
with a soft heart cast into misery
for all that she dreamed it could be
and I felt the sadness in the very core of me

I reached out my hand
as she struggled to understand
that I cared, without request or demand
that she's fallen in another far away land
her heart on fire which someone had damned

Her written words, she softly spoke
and I knew all her words to be true
as if I was speaking with you
and I told her what I could
to help her out of her blue

Suddenly as a tear fell from my own eye
and I really don't know why
after all that has passed me by
but I felt her wounded heart
and of my own, gave her a part

Maybe it was the unexpected honesty
or maybe the sense of care and appreciation
that felt to me like life's warm consolation
that a broken heart can do some good
if only it trusts that it could

I learn again this simple lesson
one on which I am learning to depend
The beauty and grace of sharing:
Kindness, we sooner or later all need to lend
Somehow I was in the company of a friend

A moment shared helps two hearts to mend
