A Mother's Pledge [2007] Poem by Catherine Beahl

A Mother's Pledge [2007]

Rating: 5.0

I would gladly swim
Your ocean
Of broken dreams
And walk across

Your desert of
Never ending pain,
To free you
From your sorrows.

I would gladly
Fight off and live
Your nightmares
And sit with you

In a gloomy prison
To make your day bright,
So you can once again
Live a life of happiness.

I pledge to you
My loyalty,
My love
And my protection;

To take you in
As my own
And to raise you
Like you were my own.

I pledge to you,
My dear,
A life
With meaning.

A life
Without the fear of death
And never ending love
Until, fate drives us apart.
