A New Day Poem by Pamela Moorehead

A New Day

Today is a new day and although some cannot see tomorrow I was born a different way
I will wake up to the sun rise as its long rays stroke my face
and dream about my lover who knows me by my name
He wraps his strong long arms around me as his green hair tickles my nose
and the breeze that moves throush his branches whisper sweet things all would want to know
My lover protects me from the sun when his need to come find me becomes too strong
He wonders why I love him when the sun said he didn't do me wrong
I tell him because the tree has brougt me shade in a time when life is too warm
And the sun understood and the tree shaked with excitement and the clouds made a heart full of joy
And the moon came to the rescue and told the sun do not worry I am yours
Now the Heavens sing happily and the world keeps springing forth family trees
Let this be a lesson that all love has different expressions indeed.
