A New Life Poem by Mohammad Younus

A New Life

A new life
Something I am new to
But as in previous life
It comes with surprises
I won't lie, challenges too
New faces, new places
New environment
A new dharma
But as usual, attempted
To follow my own dharma
Only wanted to be who I am
Not adapting, Not changing
Seeking to apply
The true Version of myself,
Embracing my true self,
My divine nature, my fitrah
Not just trying to be like
That others want me to be
What about those around me,
What about those that I see,
What about those that I hear,
What about those that talk to me,
Or those that I get to speak
I can't ask them to be just like me
Let them know their own reality

I think it's not just possible
Without divine intervention
Who graces us with inspiration
To discover our true identity,
And tells in gentle whispers
'Wake up and under my guidance
Act to be what in my cosmic plan
I wanted you to be, to inherit
All that I have created for you'
Divine voice,
Wordless and soundless,
Night and day pouring into me
By divine grace, finding the direction
To understand, interpret and read the life.
Hopefully, I am here to stay,
Self conscious and Godconscious
Through the whole course of my life.
