A Norman Rockwell Moment Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

A Norman Rockwell Moment

Experienced a captivating moment today
It stopped all sense of motion and time
Much like the shutter of a camera capturing
an instant that remains etched in one's mind

A moment of tenderness and positive
direction…taking seconds to reassure
that the warmth of human nature
is still very much present and pure

A young father, out for a mid-day walk
with a leashed Irish Setter near his side
His infant child in a stroller going for a ride
Stopping to sooth the baby's urgent cries

Holding a baby bottle with formula gently
as the blanketed child received nourishment
A father can be maternal…this is monumental
Developing nurturing pleasures is significant…

Protectively, the dog sat poised… patiently waiting
As I continued on my way… the visual image stayed
Like a Norman Rockwell painting I may have seen…
Unconditional love and understanding was conveyed

An affectionate scene that could have easily been
the theme for an old Saturday Evening Post cover
A modern 2009 painting…. with old fashion values
Nostalgia surfaced as warmheartedness is discovered
