A Place With Space Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

A Place With Space

Sally was in need of room to think
Her mind was confined to a crowded room
It was her desire to escape conversation
So she set her sights on a hot-air balloon

She went to the ticket taker
and said, 'How much will it cost? '
The fee was reasonable… it was free
She was on her way…then she was lost

Her vision gained distance as she ascended
Soon all she could see was a small marble;
A perfectly blue sphere veiled with clouds...
With no one to talk to…her speech was garbled

She wondered where the voyage would lead
Without notice…the flame that boosted died
Sally held on with all her might…descending
Slowing to a steady speed…she began to glide

She landed on an island surrounded by water
Palm trees swayed and shook hard coconuts
One landed on her head raising a a big bump
Senseless… she went to the land of knockouts

When she woke she had a terrible headache
She took out her compass and tried to stabilize
As she searched north, south, east, and west
She discovered endless ocean and began to realize

She had found the space she had dreamed about
But now it seemed she was having some issues
She had no one to talk to…her mind was confined
She wished she had a box of comforting tissues
