A Play Of Words © Poem by Roann Mendriq

A Play Of Words ©

Words played upon an empty page
a merry game of hide and seek;
I beckoned them to take the stage,
that I may write, edit and tweak...

But no, they danced away from me,
as blithely as a monsoon shower;
I pleaded, begged, incessantly,
a slave to fickle fey word power.

I paused awhile and thought a lot,
then words began to find their place,
in cunning mode and crafty plot,
with a touch of mindless grace!

Each comma and each ampersand,
shone bright and somehow seemed to fit,
that readers might well understand,
my tale in verse and charming wit!

At last, all done, I sighed and beamed,
A job well done...or so it seemed...
