I wrote a poem
And threw it in the fire
The fire charred it
And burned it to ashes,
And scattered it in the wind.
I wrote a poem
And floated it in the water
The current carried it
Away into the river,
And dissolved it in the ocean.
I wrote a poem
And buried it in the earth
The worms ate it up
The germs decomposed it
And it was earth again.
I wrote a poem
And kept it on my table
The wind snatched it
And lifted it up, up
Into the ionosphere.
I wrote a poem
And kept it on my table
A lightning struck it,
One moment it was there
The next, it's no more.
I wrote a poem
And kept it in my mind
It sank into the depths
The mind said
I shall keep it for ever

Totally loved this poem, it alighted in my mind and is there forever also. Really great poem, I enjoyed it immensely! Love how you used the elements of earth, wind, fire and water - and how each of them destroyed the poem. Only the mind can hold onto such great treasures forever every time the poem is remembered. Great poem! Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn
