A Poem To My Mother Poem by Jared Gobey

A Poem To My Mother

Rating: 5.0

Light shines through the elastic,
My eyes open and close drastic
like a broken hinged door.
A high shriek pierces the air and then
I am out and brought into Earth.
Lab coats and mouth mufflers stare
and talk about some alien birth.
The air hugs me and I am brought
eye level with my mum.
My fingers persistently curling
around her shaken thumb.
Her eyes and her smile make me feel
like Shakespeare on his opening night.
And in her arms, instantly, I knew
everything was going to be alright.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Mum's never get the praise they deserve. I often write a few lines of poetry for her every now and then, but I took my time with this one. I love my mum.

That's really good. Your mum must be so proud.
