Jared Gobey Poems

I would say you were an angel but you have no wing
But you deliver whatever an angel should bring
I would say you were my destiny but you have no child
My heart went liquid when you first smiled
...

Fed up with finding rhymes
To define my difficult times
Fed up with thinking of feeling
My true feelings are revealing
...

Light shines through the elastic,
My eyes open and close drastic
like a broken hinged door.
A high shriek pierces the air and then
...

I write poems and stories and short ones too,
The dove in my latest was meant to be you.
I do it mostly to watch the minutes pass,
To tell a girl I love her behind the glass.
...

Walk past the earthly thorns
Ignoring what the surface warns
The other side is like no other
Move boundless with your brother
...

The paper I hand you is not a letter, a book or a deed
But the paper I hand you is one you must promise to read
The paper I hand you holds the key to our love which is true
The paper I hand you means that forever I can hold you
...

Love has its days, its nights and its hours
Love has its rivers, its lakes and its showers
Love has its Venus, its Pluto and its Mars
Love has its galaxies, its universes and its stars
...

I Would Say

I would say you were an angel but you have no wing
But you deliver whatever an angel should bring
I would say you were my destiny but you have no child
My heart went liquid when you first smiled
I would say you were Cupid but you have no arrow
Your voice is the song of a million sparrow
I would say you were a masterpiece but you have no frame
Air is to my lungs as my heart is to your name
I would say you were a rose but you have no blades
My tears are waterfalls, the water cascades
I would say you were the sky but you are not blue
My eyes are immobile by this unholy view
I would say you were mine but you're yet to say yes
Wishing you all of my love, my faith and my success.
