A Poignant Moment Poem by Krithika Venugopalan

A Poignant Moment

Rating: 5.0

I pity you, my dear lady
Not just because you stand by the road
Asking for customers for your body
Though with all this, you are so bored!

"I see her standing by my way
Looking for men, she does roam
I feel so sad she has no one to guide
Every night, when I get back home!

Sis, how we enjoy the pranks of my daughter!
How we dote on her each passing day!
How we do delight at her smiles and laughter,
Wouldn't she also have been adored that way?

Perhaps with her loving Dad gone
And no brother to anchor her lonely life,
She wakes up with dread, every morn
Instead of being someone's precious wife! "

I pity you all, my dear women
Not just because you stand by the road
Because you never know there are such gentlemen
Like my dear bro, with a heart made of gold!

Hi Krithika, I believe that no lady /woman would sell herself, given a choice. She does so, only because she has no other go. And she needs no pity. What she needs is a support to earn a decent living, enough money just to feed herself and her loved ones two meals a day. She just wants to live a life of honour.

A very insightful peek into the sad state of women in many parts of the world. Till the society learns to show respect to woman, it can never claim itself to be a mature one. Beautifully written.. Krithika.

An insightful depiction of deplorable condition of women of easy virtue, well articulated and elegantly penned in good rhyme scheme with conviction. Thanks for sharing Krithika. Please read my poem POETIC MASTERPIECE.
