A poor girl
Her huts tell the stories
Of poverty, backwardness, underdevelopment,
Lack of resources, scarcity of food, clothes,
Living below the poverty line
And she living on left-overs, stale food
So poorly, miserably
But without any complaint or grievance!
A life with the herds of cattle, flocks of fowls,
Pigs and piglets running,
Hens, ducks
And as thus passes her life in looking after,
Sleeping on the muddy floor,
Living under a starw-thatched hut, mud-built congested house
Where earthen pitchers and bowls are,
Haystacks and dry leaves to push into the earthen oven.
